Artist's Biography

Artist's Statement
"As an artist I've worked with many different media, from watercolor paints to marble sculpture, but the one that has captured and held my imagination is glass. It is one of the few media that can be worked as a solid, a liquid, or in between. Glass constantly challenges the artist to learn and then break its rules. It demands imagination, creativity and dedication and in return it gives a clarity, mutability and brilliance that nothing else can match."

Catherine Thrush

Born:
Appleton, Wisconsin now residing in San Jose, California 

Education:
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Studio Art, College of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, Minnesota.
Concentrations:  Life drawing, marble sculpture, oil painting and printmaking

Glass Experience:
Fourteen years working with stained-glass and six years fusing experience including two years working for a stained-glass supply store called Sundance Art Glass Center.

Catherine Thrush is owner and sole proprietor of Bella Lumina. Bella Lumina was founded January 1, 1997 and has enjoyed a fast growing and loyal following.
