Gaia,

meaning "Earth", is in many ways the oldest god. The Earth Mother goes back to Neolithic times when mankind saw the world and the processes of nature that sustained them and named them "Mother".

When they died, people were buried in fetal position in oval tombs, sent back to the womb of Mother Earth to be born anew.

All was of the Mother and all was sacred.
