Kuan Yin's
cruel father married her sisters to unkind men.
Seeing this, Kuan Yin asked to join a temple where
her father ensured she was given the hardest
chores. She slaved night and day until the animals
of the forest came to her aid. Her father, in a
fury, had her killed for disobedience.
But Kuan Yin's purity and compassion
transformed her into a Goddess committed to ending
suffering on Earth.
Kuan Yin is a gentle and compassionate spirit.
According to legend, she had attained enlightenment,
but gave up her eternal reward to protect and guide
the human race. She symbolizes the feminine aspect
of self sacrifice and greatness of spirit.
